In a special guidance session organised for non-profit leaders, renowned Chartered Accountant CA Mukesh Gupta outlined essential vertices for strengthening the functioning of NGOs, Trusts, Societies, and Section 8 Companies across India.
He emphasised that the non-profit sector must now adopt structured governance, financial transparency, and compliance-driven operations to meet rising expectations from communities, government bodies, and CSR partners.
Highlighting four key vertices, CA Mukesh Gupta stated that every NGO must focus on:
(1) Governance & Legal Compliance, including updated registrations, active board oversight, and timely statutory filings;
(2) Financial Accountability & Transparency, with proper bookkeeping, audits, donor reporting, and adherence to FCRA norms;
(3) Programmatic Efficiency & Outcome Measurement, shifting from activity reports to impact-based reporting; and
(4) Ethical Fundraising & Donor Compliance, ensuring integrity in donor relations and CSR partnerships.
He added that India’s non-profit ecosystem is expanding rapidly, and organisations that invest in systems, compliance, and ethical practices will be better positioned for long-term sustainability and collaboration with national and international agencies.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where NGO representatives sought clarity on regulatory challenges, financial management, and strategic planning
