The Climate & People Welfare Council (CPWC) has announced the launch of NIYAM – National Initiative for Youth Agility & Movement, a community-based programme aimed at strengthening physical fitness, discipline, and value-driven character among India’s youth.
NIYAM has been conceptualised as a free and accessible initiative that provides structured physical training and discipline guidance through retired Army personnel, enabling young participants to benefit from their experience, leadership, and commitment to national values. The programme focuses on building stamina, agility, and overall well-being while fostering punctuality, teamwork, leadership, and a sense of responsibility towards society.
The core objectives of NIYAM include improving physical fitness and mental resilience among local youth, encouraging disciplined daily routines inspired by non-military Army training practices, and promoting a healthy lifestyle rooted in respect for community and nation. The initiative also creates meaningful opportunities for ex-servicemen to continue contributing to society by mentoring the next generation.
NIYAM is designed to cultivate a positive morning fitness culture within communities, helping young people reduce screen addiction and sedentary habits through regular physical engagement and group activities. By combining physical movement with value-based discipline, the programme seeks to develop well-rounded individuals who can serve as role models for their peers.
CPWC stated that NIYAM aligns with the broader national emphasis on fitness, discipline, and youth empowerment, and reflects the organisation’s commitment to people-centric welfare initiatives that strengthen social fabric at the grassroots level. The initiative will be implemented through community-level programmes under CPWC’s established governance and operational framework.
